Local and federal government leaders have made a direct request to the Church and all other faith groups to support the effort to achieve a complete count during the 2010 Census. It has been determined that some neighborhoods in the Houston area were under counted by 20-30% during the last census. This results in less government funding of the programs that directly affect those neighborhoods. Houston knows it lost at least $150 million of government funding after the last census.
The census is simply a count of all who are living in your house (citizens and non- citizens) on April 1, 2010. Missionaries and college students will be counted in the place where they are living. The census is safe and the information is not shared with any one.
