March 31st—Food Storage Organization & Dried Apple Pies
April 28th—Refried Beans & Homemade Tortillas
May 26th—How to Can Jam and Salsa
June 30th—Grains other than Wheat
July 28th—Sprouting
August—No regular preparedness class. Watch for details on an offered CPR/First Aid certification class for $30/person with 6 person minimum.
Sept. 29th—Cheese making
Oct. 27th—Cooking with Potato Flakes, Basic Sewing
They also have set monthly preparedness goals. They are as follows:
- March— Start a garden.
- April— Organize and Inventory food supply. Check your 72-Hour kit for expired products and replace as needed.
- May—Stock up on condiments, herbs and spices. Watch for Memorial Day sales for 3 month supply staples.
- June--Rotate water supply. Have a method for filtering and purifying water.
July—Assemble an emergency car kit for each car including items such as jumper cables, flares, basic tools, a jack, tire wrench, etc.. - August—Assemble a first aid kit. Include medical records and information on any prescription medications needed.
- September—Start your fall garden. Wrap pipes and Learn how to empty sprinklers. Know how to shut off electricity, water and gas.
- October—Check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Have both your furnace and gas fireplace checked. Check fire extinguishers. . Time to check your 72- Hour kit again for any food about to expire—replace as necessary.
- November-- Back up files on computer. Start a binder of important records such as insurance policies, an inventory of household goods, birth and other important personal records, banking records, list of credit card information etc.
- December—Stock up on baking supplies. These items usually go on sale between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
